Self-Publishing: Paid to Criticize?

Although Amazon.com has restricted their review submission
process so that reviewers of items available through them may
not post URLs, you, as a reviewer, may certainly discuss the
title of your self-published work, if it is related to the
work you're reviewing. Someone interested enough to read your
review may be interested enough to order your work!
A good thoughtful review may take as much as 30 minutes
to write, but if it results in additional exposure, sales, and income, it's worth
it.
Other literary sites and forums are good places for free publicity: Good rules of thumb include staying positive, remaining professional, and always keep references to your own work on-topic.
For those who are continuing into actual print/hardcopy publishing, having your friends request your work at their local public library can be surprisingly rewarding: In fact, several authors' groups have done reciprocal requesting for each of the members in their groups!  Creativity need not be limited to the spaces between the covers of the books by any means!
