It is possible to get
into the paralysis of analysis when considering a self-publishing project.
After all, what does come first in self-publishing, the bulk-write, the
notes, the choice of subject, the “voice” to be used, hosting service,
back-end considerations like how much am I going to ask for my work, who
are my target market, how will I promote my work, pre-edit of notes prior
to outline, outline, proof-edit (strike those, editing does not come
first). Construct the flow your work will go through, then follow it.
Pressuring yourself to get your self-publishing project completed within a
given time period is not usually productive, it is far better to say
“I'd like to complete my research notes by week one, decide on an
outline or structure by week two, (etc...,)”, thus giving yourself
reasonable time to complete portions of the work.
As far as hosting and auxiliary services, delPrado
Press is striving to provide as much as possible as conveniently as
possible by way of services
to allow authors to do what they do best: Write, create, inform,
entertain, communicate.
A sample flow that may be helpful to the beginning
self-publishing aspirant is included here below.
Remember, “Whatever you can do, or dream you
can, begin it: beginning has magic and power within it.” (Goethe)
